“Can We Have A Picture Taken With Your Dog?”

There is nothing unusual about still having to do some Christmas shopping this close to the holidays. There is also nothing unusual about taking the dog with you, especially as the girlfriend has asked you to walk it and you thought you could kill two birds with one stone. What is unusual is to be stopped by a large group of Japanese tourists – all of whom want a photo taken with your dog.

Earlier in the morning, I had spotted this particular tourist group as I walked to the shops. They had been on the other side of the road and had been making cooing noises at CJ, who was in turn giving them odd looks.

Later in the pedestrian shopping area, who did we come face to face with, but the same group. In basic English, they all ask her name and if they could have their photo taken with her. Drawing strange looks from other shoppers, I simply said yes. CJ simply found the whole thing bemusing and kept giving me looks that seemed to ask – who the hell are these people?
