CJ is still going through a rebellious phase and as a result, Helen is going back into full on training mode. While things seem to be progressing well, there are still moments of full out defiance. A prime example of this occurred last week.

Upstairs has long been forbidden to CJ and for the past five months she has seemed to understand this. The only time, she is allowed up there is when it is bathtime and she seems eager enough to leave once it is all over.

However last week when Helen went upstairs, CJ followed her. Refusing all commands to come downstairs, she simply sat there mocking me. She didn’t even go exploring, she just sat at the top of the stairs and looked down at me, revelling in her ability to ignore me.

Luckily I have a secret weapon. An inflatable shark.

Now the reason why I have an inflatable shark is unimportant, but while tidying up the living room, I noticed CJ was growling at it. When I picked it up, she backed out of the room and hid. It turns out, she is terrified of it.

So there you go, if you want to re-establish who the boss is – use a large blow-up marine predator.
